Corieltauvi 'Hostidius Type' AR Unit
Silver, 1.06 grams; 13.14 mm. Circa 55 - 45 B.C. Corieltauvian class B. Obverse: Boar right, ring and double pellet and two elaborate curves above. Reverse: Horse left, elaborate curve above a ring and double pellet above horse resembling a crested helmet. Coin Index Registration Number at Oxford University: CCI 08.8809. M 405 - 406; VA 864; BMC 3213; S 396 variant. This is the earliest extant Corieltauvian type because it conforms closest to the denarii of C.f. Hostidius Geta, the horse is derived from the imported diademed type of C. 65 - 50 B.C. Very fine-good very fine. Found Lincolnshire.
