Lead alloy, 0.77 grams, 15.51 mm. Circa late 14th - early 15th Century. Obverse: A well executed design depicting the sacrificial lamb left, head facing back right, triangular flag on pole in front, through centre of the counter. Reverse: A large expanding cross, hatched. Ref: Michael Mitchiner has no examples of this obverse in his work: 'The Medieval Period and Nuremberg; reverse similar to p129' No 313. Very Fine.

English Pewter Counters are dated to the late 14th and early 15th Centuries and were an interim phenomenon of transient manufacture after the English market in stock latten jettons became flooded with cheap mass produced Continental products in the second half of the 14th century.
