English 'Two Headed Bird' Latten Counter Lead alloy, 0.70 grams, 16.48 mm. Circa late 14th - early 15th Century. Obverse: A well executed design depicting a large bird facing with two opposing heads. Reverse: A heater shaped shield divided through centre into four sections, top left and bottom right sections hatched. Michael Mitchiner has no examples of this type in his work: 'The Medieval Period and Nuremberg. Extremely Fine.
