Lead alloy, 0.70 grams, 16.48 mm. Circa late 14th - early 15th Century. Obverse: A well executed design depicting a large bird facing with two opposing heads. Reverse: A heater shaped shield divided through centre into four sections, top left and bottom right sections hatched. English Pewter Counters are dated to the late 14th and early 15th Centuries and were an interim phenomenon of transient manufacture after the English market in stock latten jettons became flooded with cheap mass produced Continental products in the second half of the 14th century.
