Post Medieval 'Lodge of Amity 1784 No 171' Masonic Member's Badge
Silver-gilt, 15.86 grams, 87.73 mm. 1889 D. A silver gilt badge in the form of a medallion with central ropework endless knot and letter 'C' design and blue enamelled perimeter band with 'LODGE OF AMITY 1784' inscription; the reverse hallmarked for London with date letter 'O' in shield cartouche, maker's mark 'RS' and engraved with the recipient's name 'W. BRO. A. W. ARCHIBOLD'; with suspension loop and ring with a hanger comprising a pale blue silk ribbon with top pin bar and bottom scroll bar plus a blue enamelled centre bar inscribed with the 'No 171' lodge number. Reference: Lodge No 171 met at the Ship Hotel, Royal Hill, Greenwich, London (in the period 1870-1892). Very fine condition, the silk ribbon worn. Provenance: from an old Kent collection.
