Georgian 'Scrolled' Plate Brooch
Gilt copper-alloy, 4.03 grams, 40.60 mm. 18th century AD. A decorative vesica-shaped brooch with plain, elliptical central section surrounded by c-scrolled volutes on the long sides and palmettes on the ends. The hinge and catchplate attachment point are in place on the reverse, the pin lost. Very fine condition, gilding intact on the rim. Provenance: from an old English collection.
