Pottery, 30cm x 15cm [12 x 6 inches]. Moche IV vessel with transversal stirrup. Combination of cream and ochre pigments. The being is wearing a wrap-around that goes under the chin, letting the ears free. Under the wrap around is a headband covering the forehead. Even though some of the pigment is lost, there are three frames with alternating triangular steps. Opposing the steps are triangles with squares inside. Relief face showing wide open eyes and fanged mouth with tongue out, indicating a blood licking posture again to intimidate. The neck has a never ending curling snake and perforations to allow the sound of the rattle. Some pigment losses, otherwise in Very Fine condition.
