The Gallic war uniface stater is die-linked to the last classes of the biface Stater. This type was produced between about 60 B.C. and 50 B.C., shortly before and during the Gallic War, and was almost certainly struck to pay mercenary troops fighting against Caesar in Europe. The lack of an obverse design certainly suggests that this coinage was struck in a hurry.
John Sills of the Celtic Coin Index at Oxford University writes:
"...the style and high weight make it certain that this is class 1; it's from a known reverse die. "

"Uninscribed Kentish bronze, 'Dreadlocks' type (not in VA, BMC) The find spots (predominantly in Kent), the Pegasus and the cross-hatched box beneath the horse all confirm the Kentish origins of this type. It must be fairly early, perhaps c. 40 BC, and it's not impossible that it's an issue of Dubnovellaunos, although without an inscription this cannot be confirmed.

Tasciovanus (Late 1st century B.C. - Early 1st Century A.D.). Tasciovanus was the grandson, or perhaps the son, of Cassivellaunus, and the father of Cunobelin and Epaticcus. He was ruler of the tribe from circa 20 B.C. He was also the first to renew hostilities towards the Trinovantes, flouting the long-standing agreement between Caesar and his own grandfather Cassivellaunus. Between 10 and 15 B.C. he issued a series of coins bearing the mint mark CAMV[lodunum], indicating that for a time at least, he took possession of the Trinovantian capital, but it appears that he withdrew following the advent of Augustus in Gaul. His later coin issues bear the inscription TASCIO RICON where the word 'rigon' is usually translated as 'king'.

"This is an attractive example of the linear type of Cunobelin's corn-ear stater, generally thought to be the first in the series of staters which followed on from the biga issues, and thus probably dating to between about 10 - 20 AD. Comparison with Derek Allen's fundamental work on these coins (published in Britannia, vol. 6, 1975) shows that Allen identified a

Since Allen wrote, just three more coins from this obverse die have surfaced, including the example illustrated here. Interestingly there do not appear to be any examples struck from this die without the flaw, which suggests that it might have developed very soon after the die went into use. The reverse of this coin is a little rarer: it's from the same die as the other two relatively recent finds, but from a different die to that coupled with the coin identified by Allen. At the level of individual dies it's thus scarce..."
