These pages have been set up for ease of navigation through the relevant periods of history, from the Early
Anglo Saxon Sceattas through to the coins of the
Commonwealth. As you go through these pages you will see reference to ‘S’ and ‘N’ numbers, these refer to
Coins of England published by Spink and
English Hammered Coins written by JJ North. These are the standard reference books on the subject. This section of our catalogue has many subsections including:
Sceattas [Sceats];
Kings of Northumbria;
Anglo Saxon Pennies;
Norman Pennies;
The Plantagenets;
The House of Lancaster;
The House of York;
Tudor,
Stuart and
Commonwealth sections; as well as
Scottish and
Irish. Each subsection is further divided into kingdoms, monarchs and coin types where appropriate. Each coin is displayed with a thumbnail picture and description. A further enlarged view and in many cases a more detailed description is available by either clicking on the ‘Enlarged View’ button or the thumb nail image. Each coin is fully described with reference citations and in some cases additional historic notes found within our extensive library of books and other resources. Those interested in medieval coinage will probably find something of interest on these pages, but should you be looking for something specific that are not published here, please contact us at
sales@time-lines.co.uk and we will look through our extensive off-line stocks for you. This site should be straightforward to navigate, but we are in the process of updating the entire site.
We have on offer many types, mints and moneyers, with some rarities such as
Early Anglo Saxon Pennies and the rare Edward I Groat. The quality is variable from low grades for the budget collector to extremely fine for the connoisseur. Our coin gallery is growing year by year and will continue to expand as our stocks and customer base increase.
Since we started over 10 years ago, we have seen a large increase in demand and value. Currently these coins represent a sound investment, with some values increasing by up to 35% in a single year!
Over recent years we have received much support and information from within the hobbies of coin collecting and metal detecting. If you are a beginner, learning about this series can be a bit daunting, but our team is on hand to answer any questions or queries on +[0]1708 222384. We also sell many
books which will allow you to quickly reference the coins on our site. Should you need books, follow the ‘
