Anglo Saxon Square Headed Brooches for sale~
Saxon Square Headed Brooches for sale
Although there are many types of small crudely decorated types of Anglo Saxon Square Headed Brooch, the most famous is the Giant Square Headed Brooch. These were the most expensive and complex items of dress jewellery produced by the Anglo Saxons. These beautiful brooches were made during the fifth and sixth centuries A.D. and are very rarely offered for sale. These are the most highly coveted of all Anglo Saxon Brooches ever offered for sale, and were faced with a process of heavy gilding called gold chip carving, and simply called Gold Chip Carved Brooches. These brooches were worn by women from families of very high wealth and social status. The fact that most surviving examples come from pagan burials, could suggest that they were only used for special occasions and eventually were buried with the individual as grave goods. We rarely have this type of Anglo Saxon Brooch for sale.
